An update from julia, LMSRUK Secretary

 

“I thought I would let you know of progress in setting up the UKs first LMS specific charity.

Maisie and Colin have had several meetings with leading UK researchers and oncologists, and we are very close to a date for our first research workshop!! This will bring together about 50 experts and take place in November in Manchester. This is an important step towards our main aim of establishing a UK network of LMS experts to create a step-change in LMS specific research!

 

Our fundraising is making steady progress.  Sincere thanks to all who have donated so far – we have raised over £3,200 against our target of £8,500. We have also set up our Patient Science Group and are lucky to have some talented people involved. Initially we’ll be looking at putting out layman’s guides to current research projects and their findings – our aim here is for patients to be able to identify research which may apply to them and enable conversations with oncologists.

 

I have had active LMS for 8 years now, I’ve had about 30 different treatments, at 4 different hospitals. It’s my genuine belief that focusing attention and funding on LMS is our best chance to create a step-change in outcomes for people with LMS , now and in the future.
