In partnership with Sarcoma UK, we are developing a series of regional engagement workshops that will bring together colleagues from sarcoma centres and local services, including general oncology and gynaecological oncology teams. These workshops will initially be piloted at two to three sites to identify the most effective engagement format.
The workshops will provide a forum to share best practice, strengthen collaboration, and explore future research opportunities. This work is informed by the LMS Pathfinder Network (a UK-wide network of sarcoma healthcare professionals) which we continue to coordinate to drive this activity forward. Ultimately, this initiative aims to improve outcomes for patients with uterine sarcoma.
Insights from LMS Research UK 2025 workshops, which were co-sponsored by Sarcoma UK, highlighted significant regional variation in research practice and collaboration between sarcoma and gynaecology teams. While some regions demonstrate strong multidisciplinary working, others lack this level of integration. We aim to address these disparities by increasing regional engagement, identifying local challenges, and supporting improved collaborative research practices.
This programme aligns with the LMS Pathfinder Network and LMS Research UK’s broader FOCUS initiative (Finding and Improving Outcomes to Support Uterine Sarcoma), which seeks to strengthen partnerships between gynaecology and sarcoma teams nationwide.
