Chaired by Professor Ian Judson, the LMS Pathfinder Network brings together healthcare professionals from across the UK with an interest in sarcoma. Members include clinicians, biological researchers, nurse practitioners, data scientists, and other specialists. The aim of the network is to promote the sharing of best practice, foster closer collaboration, and support the development of novel and disruptive research and innovations to improve outcomes for patients with sarcoma.
The network focuses initially on leiomyosarcoma as a ‘pathfinder’ subtype, using it to pilot approaches and programmes that may later be explored or applied to other soft tissue sarcoma subtypes.
Currently, the network includes representation from all UK Soft Tissue Sarcoma Centres of Excellence, alongside growing engagement with regional hospitals that have a clinical or research interest in sarcoma. In addition, there has been broader collaboration with gynaecology and gynaecological oncology colleagues, particularly those with an interest in uterine sarcomas, as part of the projects currently being supported.
