The FOCUS programme was created and developed by the LMS Pathfinder Network. The programme deliberately concentrates on uterine sarcoma, with a particular focus on uterine leiomyosarcoma. This focus was chosen to enable the development of a cohesive, integrated programme that brings together clinical and biological approaches to improve outcomes for patients with uterine leiomyosarcoma, while also identifying insights and strategies that may be applicable to other leiomyosarcoma subtypes.
The programme provides a framework for exploring genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, and immune microenvironment research, enabling robust multidisciplinary collaboration. A schematic overview of the FOCUS programme illustrates its structure and highlights the opportunities it creates for cross-disciplinary working.
Current projects supported by Leiomyosarcoma Research UK feed directly into the FOCUS programme, helping to drive forward this coordinated programme of research and innovation.
